Advanced Audio ships complete turnkey ProToos HDX scoring system to Caracas Venezuela for the recording of "El Libertador"

Advanced Audio recently provided a complete ProTools HDX scoring system to record a 200 piece orchestra in Caracas, Venezuela. Noted L.A. Philharmonic conductor and native, Gustavo Dudamel, conducted the orchestra, whose members got their start in the world of orchestral music through youth programs fostered by Dudamel.

Advanced Audio veteran Chris Miles flew to Caracas to ensure a smooth scoring session. This is the first time anyone has scored with a full orchestra in Venezuela. ProTools recordist Erik Swanson was instrumental in making all of this happen. Lengthy pre-planning was necessary as there were no second chances thousands of miles from Los Angeles.

The main orchestral system was an 80 I/O ProTools HDX rig, running @192k. The system recorded to a single RAID10 volume. New 2Tb/6gb sec Hitachi SATA drives were utilized, since the data rate @192k going to a single volume is pretty huge.

Another identical system was online as a hot spare. A third system was used for file backup/transfer.

Finally, a ProTools HD1 system was utilized for video playback.

The film is currently being mixed in Los Angeles for release in the near future.

Advanced Audio is the industry leader in ProTools HD and digital audio equipment rentals to the film and post-production community in Los Angeles and abroad.
