Advanced Audio Rentals First to Provide Antelope Audio Atomic Master Clock to Major Hollywood Feature Film

Advanced Audio recently provided Antelope Audio's Atomic Master Clock and multiple Pro Tools HD Systems to the Sony Picture Scoring Stage for the scoring of Planet Earth, a Walt Disney feature film scheduled for release in April 2009.  This marks the first time this extremely accurate new clock technology has been provided for use as a master stage reference in scoring a major feature film, replacing the standard house video sync source. The Atomic Clock outputs a 10mhz reference signal, similar to the 10mhz GPS clocks used to synchronize orbiting satellites that provide positional data for Google Maps. For scoring Planet Earth, the Atomic Clock's 10mhz signal then drove the reference input of Antelope's OCX-V Master Studio Clock. This, in turn, provided several audio clock signals to the Antelope DA (distribution amp) which locked all of the Digidesign 192 I/O boxes and Apogee AD|DA converters installed into each ProTools sytem.
Paul Levy, owner of Advanced Audio Rental, commented, "My goal was to seperate house video sync from all audio clocks, and replace it with 10mhz, thereby improving the sound quality of all audio converters. The only time I used house video sync was to reference the Digidesign Sync I/O, which I use for timecode chase only. My theory is that using a reference frequency that is 1000 times the nominal sample rate (96khz) will make a huge improvement over a reference frequency of 59.94hz."
The clients were amazed at the clarity, spaciousness and depth of sound of the orchestra and choir being recorded—as well as a noticeable improvement in the overall noise floor of the ProTools HD systems.
